Doomsday is at Hand

Dystopian film has had its own position in the map of Hollywood film production, especially in recent forty years. It is interesting since at the beginning, dystopian films were only sub genre from other science fiction films and horror films. However, these films are succed passing by their roots, especially from ratings of viewers and production budget. Unlike horror or science fiction, dystopian films connects its issue with the life of people, so it can get a huge amount of viewers. This month, KINOKI screens four dystopian films in one range of program, “Doomsday is at Hand”. Let’s Watch!

title-bar

This month Kinoki has a colorful set of screening programs. The main course is PERSONA NON GRATA, a program that screens films about famous figures known for their less-than-likable reputation. The program is divided into two sub-programs: get-together screenings named LET’S WATCH, and screenings with discussion sessions titled KINOLOGY.

The next program is TRAVELLING!, which screens three distinctive films. The first is At the Very Bottom of Everything, a feature-length film on manic depression by Paul Agusta. The other two is Atlantis and a film compilation titled Women and the Syariah Law. Both are the courtesy of V Film Festival Tour.

This month also mark the launching of German Film Club. It is a series of German film screenings, initiated by Goethe Institute and Kinoki. This month’s theme is TO GERMANY VIA TURKEY, which will screen Head On and hold an informal discussion session with Christina Schott and Elida Tamalagi.
